Coffee Spot Review #2 - Café Leon Dore, Soho

THE CONCEPT

Café Leon Dore blends American and Greek cultures, with the menu focusing more prominently on its Greek roots. You can fulfil your caffeine fix by trying out the frothy iced espresso drinks, the Freddo Espresso and the Freddo Cappuccino, whilst a variety of Greek pastries and groceries can satisfy your hunger. CLD describes its trendy café as one which ‘embodies real community through meticulous craft and taste, with a clear and authentic point of view’.

Once you have bought a coffee, you can either chill in the seating areas (both inside and out), whilst listening to the iconic sounds of Nas, or browse through its clothing and accessories store, Aimé Leon Dore. Its style is inspired by Queens region of New York and holds ‘a strong focus on simple yet powerful design’.

MY COFFEE

- Freddo Cappuccino -

This Greek iteration of a cappuccino is made with strong espresso and thick cold foam. It was delicious, and due to the sheer strength of the bitter espresso, which is offset nicely by the milk foam, you will find yourself only needing one!

THE FEE

The Freddo Cappuccino cost me £4.50, which felt reasonable considering it is a specialty coffee.

THE REVIEW

My favourite coffee spot in London to date. Greek coffee is renowned for its strong, tasty flavours and merging some US culture into the Café’s concept made for an enjoyable half-hour. I really enjoyed the modern decor, the Café’s stylish vibe and the background music was the cherry on the top of the cake.

Room for improvement?

I only wish there was more outside seating!

Next time?

I will be sure to try out some of the Greek pastries next time round.
