Coffee Spot Review #1 - Grind, Soho

VIBE

Located in Covent Garden, Grind is a growing chain of London cafés fusing coffee, food and cocktails, with sustainability at the heart of their model.

They provide mini food offerings, delicious juices/smoothies as well as their own roasted coffee. In the evenings, their cafés come to light as cocktails are the focus of the venue.

MY SCRAN CHOICE

- Burrata Bruschetta -

As it was an an early kick-off, 11am, I opted for a light brunch. The olive oil was very powerful and matched perfectly with the ideally portioned burrata and crispy bruschetta. A definite recommendation, and my only regret is not adding the prosciutto for £2 extra.

THE DRINKS

- Flat White & Super Greens Juice (Kale, Spinach, Celery, Romaine, Cucumber, Apple, Lemon) -

I’d heard about Grind’s excellence at producing home-grown talent in the form of their in-house roasted cofffees and this flat white was great. A strong flavour and left me craving more.

As for the super greens juice, one sip led to further large sips in quick succession, such was its smooth texture. It was refreshing and I wish they made their own smoothies for sale in supermarkets.

THE FEE

A very well-priced fee, particularly as you can double-up a coffee with a light affordable brunch.

THE REVIEW

A great little coffee spot, and easy to access as there are others scattered around London in … . An ideal place for a catch-up, with a great selection of brunch offerings.

Room for improvement?

Although the vibe was retro-styled with inspiration from David Bowie, which gave it a cool atmosphere, the seating could have matched with more comfort.

Next time?

I would certainly look to purchase their own Grind coffee pods to see whether their memorable in-store coffee can translate to an in-home environment. They are certified home compostable coffee pods and ‘disappear faster than garden cuttings’. Tasty and good for the environment: Win-Win!
